How to Make Fresh Iced Tea
Measure and boil four cups of water.
Measure out 3 scant tablespoons of looseleaf tea into large filters.
Brew leaves for four minutes.
Remove leaves and pour hot tea over 4 cups of ice.
Add 1/4 cup of sugar. (optional)
Chill.
Correction: The amount of tea depends on the type. The rule of thumb is to use twice as much as you would for hot tea. The ice melts and doubles the amount of...

Totoro Forest Project - Save Totoro Forest →
Sayama Forrest is one of the most remarkable urban forests (approximately 8750 acres) in Japan located right outside of Tokyo. This forest is said to be where the idea for the masterpiece “My Neighbor Totoro” originated from. With Japan’s rapid urban development in the 70’s and 80’s, the forest has been losing its land. In 1990, the director of My Neighbor Totoro,...

Sprint is Evil
Watch out for Sprint: There is a vague term in the contract they have customers sign that apparently allows them to charge you for services after your contract ends up to the end of your billing cycle, which is not at all connected to your contract end date, even if you request to cancel your service in sync with your contract end date. They told me something different about their cancellation...

Consider the Lobster →
givemesomethingtoread:
Up until sometime in the 1800s, though, lobster was literally low-class food, eaten only by the poor and institutionalized. Even in the harsh penal environment of early America, some colonies had laws against feeding lobsters to inmates more than once a week because it was thought to be cruel and unusual, like making people eat rats.

Simplify Your Life with a Stuff Replacement Fund →
When I first read the title I expected an article about simplifying things by earmarking savings to replace items you currently own. I have my 1987 Honda Elite scooter on the road but I’d like to make sure that when it comes to a time that is prudent to replace it that I have the funds available.
This article is not about that though… it’s about selling all the crap you don’t use and saving the...

It came from scratch!
This past week, I’ve made pesto (using basil, pine nuts, and olive oil), pasta sauce (using different types of tomatoes from the local farmer’s market, oregano, onions, garlic), and guacamole (using avocados, onions, tomatoes, and olive oil).
I’m so proud of myself and excited to make more fresh food from scratch.
